Ross the Haxxor

Diet: Omnivore
Danger Level: Low
Social Ability: High
Culture: Friendly, Economic
Galactic Class: Wanderer/Explorer/ Scientist
Information: Ross’s latest post reminded me that Paul was able to find the file we have on Ross and his race, so I might as well publish it before I get too many questions asked.

It should be noted that Ross is an outcaste of his race, so the following information may not apply to him directly or even describe him.

The race has a culture steeped in friendly alliances made through economic trade of technology. This technology, more often than not, is reverse engineered by this race and improved upon. However, during the process, curious individuals have been known to cross a few wires that should never be crossed causing irreparable damage of one nature or another.

The current record for the most damaging accident is one caused by Ross himself, which resulted in his outcaste status. He, for some strange reason, caused a chain reaction in a hovercraft garage that destroyed an area the equivalent in size to Antarctica on his home world of Leet when experimenting with a gravitational pulse magnet. On our planet, such an accident would be disastrous to the ecosystem and the general mass of our planet. On Leet, what ended up happening was they just lost only 0.02% of their total land area. Unfortunately, that land included a wildlife sanctuary and a few successful trading space ports.

In order to make up for these accidents, the race will often produce a product that is superior to the original that they acquired, with all marketing rights and benefits going to the original trader. This means that any profit made from any technology they improve upon goes to the original supplier of the technology. Most alien races that are lucky enough to have this kind of relationship often reward the race with large sums of money as thanks. Some will even offer planetary system in their empires as a way to ease the transit time between shipments, essentially adopting the race as their private corporation of engineers. This isn’t an outsourcing tactic so much as it is a sponsorship, as most races still pay them well above what normal cost is due to the high quality of craftsmanship.

Paul left a note saying that Ross means well, but doesn’t generally deserve this kind of treatment due to his invasive approach to things. That said, I’m also told by Paul he makes a great friend if you can put up with his behavior.

Vehicle Type: Space
Information: Ross’s personal space ship is called the Vagabond. The model of ship is commonly used by the Haxxor race when transporting smaller technology between systems, but it can be modified to hold larger cargo if needed. It come standard with hyperspace drive and Wormhole Key which is often used to travel large distances via black holes.

Ross’s ship has been modified with a clocking device with allows him to observe creatures on other planets without conflict. It also has a really goofy looking smiley face on the front. Paul makes a note that this isn’t standard and could be a custom modification. I hope it and the paint job are all Ross and not standard.

Among the other features of this space craft include a pair of laser cannons for light defensive. Being primarily an economic ship, these guns are used to ward off space pirates. They are rarely used, but when fired can cause a great deal of damage.
