Al's Interview

I keep forgetting to post this, so I might as well do it first before we officially begin the next wave of profiles from the stars. Unfortunately, the bulk of the interview will not be published for security reasons.

So, first and most important, why are you here on Earth?

I kind of just stumbled upon it while looking for a safe place to rest. My ship was terribly low on fuel and the oxygen reserves were starting to wear thin as well. Thankfully, I was the only one in the ship, so it lasted longer than it originally would. But, anyway, I was just scanning the Sol system when I got some radio chatter from your planet’s location and I just went for it. Kind of wish I knew you guys were the “shoot first, ask questions later” type, though.

Yeah, a large chunk of us are like that for some reason. I’m sorry.

It’s alright. I’m just glad no body was shot by the Auto-Turret.

How did you find out about us?

Alien Immigration.

We understand that your home world was destroyed. How did that happen?

I honestly don’t know. I was one of several members of my race to colonize nearby systems when we all suddenly lost contact with our home world. None of us knew what was going on, and to be perfectly frank, it scares us. When we all got back to our home world, it was like nothing happened. And I mean nothing! It was like we didn’t even exist anymore! Most of us decided to flee that area of the galaxy faster than--what’s your planet’s fastest animal again? Well, anyway, faster than that. I made it my personal quest to find out just what happened.

Is that why you’re here in my office looking through files and records with a fever pace?

Kind of. To make a long story short, before getting to Earth, I came across several other races who have heard stories similar to mine. They all point towards two different races that may know something about what happened. I’m hoping to find information about them.

You could have asked for that kind of information instead of getting a job here, you know.

Yes, but that’s just not how my race works. You see, we believe in fair compensation and trade. I give you something, you give me something of equal value in return. This goes for all kinds of things like clothing, toys, even information and another individual’s life!

So, I take it you’re going to be expecting something from me because of the information you’re sharing in this interview?

Oh, no no no no no no! Not from you! I’ve already established my contract with your boss’s bosses, and they have that on record. I work for you guys for no pay since Earth capital is useless to me, and in return your company will give me the information I need on just two races I want to seek out. I mean, my race has Refugee status in the galaxy! I’m not a threat to anyone if I get some information that I need to find out the answer to my race’s biggest mystery. Am I?

In some cultures, yes, but in this case, I wouldn’t know. All I do is report on alien races that we have files on because of a declassification decree from the higher-ups.
