Observation: I think the original observer’s description is probably the best way to describe this creature.
"This strange creature is practically identical to our planet’s giraffe in both height, coloring, diet, and behavior. The only differences I can see is that the anatomy of the legs are completely impossible at providing it a decent amount of mobility (though somehow it manages), it has a bird-like head complete with a feathery collar, and its rear is covered with spikes and spines similar to a porcupine."The spines on the back are used in a self-defense reaction to anything that comes up behind it. It is easily startled, and doing so will cause a barrage of needles to be fired from its rear. They are not lethal in any fashion, but contain a chemical mixture that effects the top layer of the epidermis in a really unusual way. It causes the skin to emit a disgusting smell until that layer of skin has been shed. This is a similar defensive tactic used by Earth’s skunk population.
