Observation: This insect has a chemical compound that causes a creature to be sexually attracted to the first thing it sees. The level of attraction is based on how many times one has been bitten by this bug.
A single bite will cause infatuation on a juvenile level, otherwise known as a crush. This phase is temporary and will normally last approximately a week. If you are not bit again before the week is up, you revert back and the chemical compound will have been excreted from your body.
If you are bit a second time before the week is up, the level of the crush is brought to socially obnoxious levels. This includes behavior such as serenading, stalking, and generally annoying the assumed love interest. The idea of reject is perceived as playing hard to get. This behavior will last between two weeks at the least to a month at the most.
If you are bit a third time before this second phase has passed, the chemical compound will reach neurotoxin levels and cause a state of unbridled lust that results in the act of suicide.
It is believed that this creature has a mosquito-like diet and drinks the blood of the creatures it bites. It mimics a butterfly-like creature to avoid being swatted to death when it lands on a sentient creature. The effects of the chemicals happen the moment its needle-shaped mouth breaks the skin surface.
The original observer of this creature has nicknamed it “The Love Bug.”
