Dust Bunny

Diet: Herbivore
Danger Level: 3
Social Ability: 8

Information: So here is the little creature we found earlier today. I had the opportunity to watch how they observe and rate creatures, which I’ll be learning about in about a month’s time.

Our general hypothesis is that the alien bacteria that got caught in the air filter mutated with some dead skin cells from a few of our lab animals and created this creature. It must have tried to collect as many DNA samples as possible in order to turn into this creature which was hiding in our air ducts all this time.

We’ve determine that it is an herbivore, but prefers to eat roughage rather than the pellet food we feed our rabbits. We’re unsure as to why it only has two legs, but the fluffy coat is due to assimilating the synthetic fibers used in our air filters. The hair from its coat match the fibers from the filter in texture and color. If it poses a use for this creature can only be determine by observing it for the rest of year.

Some of the techs here have been laughing their heads off as to how quickly this creature can reproduce. The dozen that we’ve found this morning have already tripled in number! It got so out of hand that trying to house them in individual cages is starting to prove impossible.

Other than that, it appears to be rather harmless and very cute.

Ibi

Diet: Omnivore
Danger Level: 6
Social Ability: 11

Information: Hypothesized to be an evolutionary relative to the turtle due to its ability to retract its body into a thick shell. A strange observation is that this creature has the ability to rearrange its limb configuration by consciously picking which opening an arm or a leg will come out of. The only part that appears to be locked into place is the mouth.

They look like giant rocks when they sleep.

Molbug

Diet: Carnivore
Danger Level: 7
Social Ability: 9

Information: This insect is commonly found in areas of high mold and fungus concentrations. Their numbers seem to be extremely high if said mold and fungus is of the poisonous variety. It will live in these areas in order to collect spores from the mold that it will use when hunting prey. The spores are stored on its wings until it begins to fly. During flight, the majority of the spores are distributed back into the area to promote pollination.

When hunting prey, it will glide from a great height, only beating its wings if it needs to extend the glide. It does this to conserve the poisonous spores on its wings. When it locates a prey target, it will land and then angle itself in relationship to the air flow of the area in order to maximize its tactic. Once it has carefully positioned itself, it will beat its wings furiously sending a cloud of the spores towards the prey. Unable to escape, the prey soon submits to the spores’ poisonous effect. This creature will then proceed to consume the fallen creature. Between every bite, it will spit a green liquid to either side of its location. This green liquid is the prey’s blood after it has inhaled the spores. The creature does this in order to not become a victim of its own weapon.

We caught something!

A few weeks ago, there was a containment breach in one of the labs. It was, thankfully, contained with the lone exception going to an airborne alien bacteria. Most of bacteria was caught in the air filters located throughout the building. Today, we found the results of this accident: a new creature that I'll be reporting about later today!

Urmbah

Diet: Herbivore
Danger Level: 6
Social Ability: 11

Information: This creature is nocturnal due to the inability to survive in direct sunlight. Their dark skin is a conduit for heat and will cause extreme discomfort if this creature is exposed to any sunlight. This results in nocturnal searches for food and building nests in heavily shadowed areas.

Sadly, the young of this creature are often the ones that fall victim to their handicap against sunlight. A dozen young will die by the end of each year as a result of being exposed to sunlight. Their death is too gruesome for me to even write about at this hour! God, I’m going to have nightmares now because of this file.
